Warwick Society Gardens Evening on Friday 16th June & Make Cycling the Answer, Wednesday 14th June

This will already be in your diaries. Please find attached flyer giving details and joining options. Click here for flyer. The long-range forecast for this date is fine (with some intervening days of rain which gardeners need). Let’s hope for one of those pleasant summer evenings which display England’s gardens at their best.

We have a second meeting this month which will interest many of our members.

Making Cycling the Answer’

On Wednesday 14 June, Cycleways, the long-established local cycling lobby group, will host a public meeting in Warwick.

Adam Tranter will be the keynote speaker. Adam was previously the Cycling Mayor of Coventry and is now the Walking and Cycling Commissioner for the West Midlands. Adam’s role is to steer the whole region’s cycling and walking policies, and to support the planning and provision of a network of safe walking and cycling routes. That’s a big job, in a region and cities historically dominated by vehicle use.

Adam’s presentation will introduce our own discussion about how a similar initiative could deliver a cycling and walking network for Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth. We invite all members of the public to this forum, to discuss how we can make Warwick’s public spaces and historic streets a people-first, widely accessible, thriving local community and economy, and deliver a broader vision of an extensive, integrated district cycling network.

To complement the discussion, Mark Lever-Green will present the work already done on developing a Visionary Cycle Network for the District.

The meeting will be held in St Mary Immaculate Parish Centre, beside the Church, in West Street, Warwick, starting at 1930 and ending before 2130. Summery refreshments.
