The next meeting of the Warwick Society is on:
Tuesday 11 October 2022 at 1945 hours for 2000 hours start
NOTE: later than usual start time
St Mary Immaculate Church Hall, West Street, Warwick. CV34 6AB
Warwick, its fine buildings, its people, and its economy face renewed threats from unsympathetic developers and Councils, and too many cars.
Once we have conducted some formal Society business, we will review Warwick in the 2020s and consider how its buildings’ conservation, its economic development, and its unhealthy attachment to the motor car can be reconciled.
Our ‘case study’ will be new and damaging proposals from the County Council which would make one part of its streets easier for traffic and nastier for people and businesses, and therefore threatens its historic buildings and its character.
We hope to conclude the meeting with a shared understanding of the renewed threat, and the beginning of a plan of action not just to counter it but to end the domination of the town’s streets, its air and its people by vehicles, their drivers, and their fumes.
