Plans from 29 September 2009

Planning Application W2009/ 0345   Mitie Security, Nelson Lane, Warwick.

Dear Sir
We wish to object to the proposal to install a storage container in the company’s car park in Nelson Lane. The appearance of the container from the footpath is objectionable and we don’t see why the landscape, even if it is in a commercial area, should be allowed to be degraded in this way.
We ask the Council to refuse planning permission for this application.

Planning Application W2009/ 1029   Warwick Racecourse, Hampton Road,  Warwick.

Dear Sir
We are opposed to the introduction of another temporary structure into the forecourt of the racecourse buildings. Either a proper building be erected or the racecourse company do without.
We ask the Council to refuse planning permission for this application.

Planning Application W2009/1033   13 Swan Street, Warwick.

Dear Sir
We find the proposed sign too large and unsympathetic to the scale of  other shop fronts in Swan Street. The wide white panel separating the shop front and first floor windows is an architectural feature which needs careful treatment, certainly black lettering on a white background is unsuitable in this situation. The shop owners should  consult with the Conservation Officers for guidance.
We ask the Council to refuse planning permission for this application.

Planning Application W2009/1108   Greyhound Inn, Emscote Road, Warwick.

Dear Sir
We would ask that the design of the proposed extract ducting be given more thought so that it can be made less externally intrusive. We believe that this could be achieved be a rearrangement of the sources
of fumes. In the meantime the Council should refuse planning permission for this application in its present form.

Planning Application W2009/ 1113/1114LB

Dear Sir
We see it as essential that if these premises are to be converted into a cafe that arrangements are in place for deliveries and the removal of rubbish to take place at the rear of the building and not through the front. If this is not possible then planning permission should be refused. We are not happy with the proposed front and would prefer it be designed in the way of a more traditional shop front with a higher stall riser.

Planning Application W2009/ 1144/1150LB   64 – 66 Market Place, Warwick.

Plans from 15 October 2009

Planning Application W2009/ 1036  10 Coten End, Warwick.

Dear Sir
We note that not all of the windows are shown on the elevation  drawings and are concerned that the garden of the neighbour at No 10  will be overlooked from the upstairs flat bedroom resulting in an  unacceptable loss of privacy.

Planning Application W2009/ 1117/1118LB  11 Mill Street, Warwick.

Dear Sir
We are concerned that the proposed construction of a basement level  exercise suite and swimming pool will adversely affect the integrity and setting of this listed building and its listed neighbours (grade  II*) contrary to Local Plan policy DAP4. A full investigation should  be undertaken into the natural drainage and water table to ensure  that there is no adverse impact on the neighbouring properties and,   as this dwelling is located in an ancient and historic part of  Warwick, a full archaeological investigation carried out. The garden  represents an important part of the setting of the building so the  depth of the covering soil must be sufficient to support significant  planting. The wall should be rebuilt with existing bricks.  We ask  the Council to ensure that all statutory obligations be met with  regard to neighbouring residents and that there will be no nuisances  from noise arising from forced ventilation, pumping and  filtration  equipment and from smell from chemical treatments.

Planning Application W2009/ 1148.     48 Arundel Close, Warwick.

Dear Sir
We see these proposals for extensions and Granny Flat as over  development on a small site to the detriment of  neighbouring  residents. The proposed extensions represent an increase of 50%  greater than the original volume of the main building and would no  longer be subservient to it.

Planning Application W2009/1162/1163LB Icon House, 12 – 14 Jury  Street, Warwick.

Dear Sir
We are concerned that the single storey rear extension and and  addition third storey to the stair core will lead to overlooking of  the house and garden at the rear and loss of privacy to the resident,  we ask the Council to ensure that this will not occur.  We are also  concerned that there is no car parking for the flats and restaurant  use, a situation that will result in a worsening of the parking  situation in the town centre streets and one that is in conflict with  the parking standards for residential development contained in the  Supplementary Planning Document Vehicle Parking Standards.

Planning Application W2009/ 1191  Land adjacent to 41 Bridge End,  Warwick.

Dear Mr Wallsgrove
We have very serious concerns over the survival of the Oak tree whose  canopy and roots extend over most of the site of this proposed  dwelling. The tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order and it  would be irresponsible and cynical to allow this development to take  place in the knowledge that the stability of the tree, which already  has one house under its canopy, would certainly be affected by the  construction of a second dwelling and its survival severely compromised.
We ask the Council to refuse planning permission for this application.

Planning Application W2009/1193 – W678/09CC046.   Park View  Residential Home, Priory Road. Warwick

Dear Sir
While we are not in a position to discuss the technical points as to  why there is a need to change the kitchen extraction unit from horizontal to vertical, we are concerned  that the 5 metre high duct  will be very visible from the higher ground in Priory Park which is a  locally listed park and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Local Plan  policy DAP11 seeks to protect the setting of parks included in the  Local Register and we would recommend that screening be introduced so  as to reduce the visual impact of the ducting on the park.

Planning Application W2009/ 1195    38 – 40 Market Place, Warwick.

Dear Sir
We welcome the proposal to retain the retail use of the former Woolworth store on the Market Place. However, the change of use to  office of the Theatre Street access will deny delivery access for the  units by that route.  While appreciating that Woolworths had been  unable to use the delivery bays after moving to larger vehicles, it  would still be preferable to keep deliveries from Market Street to a  minimum. We also reiterate our regret at the proposed loss of the  loggia in front of the building, as this contributed much to the  Market Place as a social hub, and would in fact benefit the proposed  shops.

We note that there is no toilet provision shown either for the shops  or the new office space, apart from that provided on the first floor.  Although this is a change of use application, we would like to see  that suitable provision is feasible before permission is granted.

Planning Application W2009/ 1216     2 Myton Crescent, Warwick.

Dear Sir
Subject to the opinion of the neighbours, we welcome this innovative  design which we hope will be taken as an example for elsewhere.
