March 2010

PLANS FROM 8 MARCH 2010 SENT 9 MARCH.

Planning Application W2009/ 1457 Globe Trading, Unit 3, Lock Lane, Warwick.

Dear Ms Butler

We are concerned that the change of use of the first floor at these premises, from storage to offices, has already been carried out without considering the car parking requirements for increased staff numbers. Millers Road is a two hour limited, resident permit parking area so that all day parking is directed to the Wedgenock Green area where there are no restrictions. Complaints have been made from residents there who are unable to park near their houses during the day. We would ask that this issue be addressed before retrospective planning permission is granted.

Planning Application W2009/1460  13c – 13d Collins Road, Heathcote Industrial Estate, Warwick.

Dear Mr Young

We are not convinced that the proposed change of use from industrial units to a conference and banqueting centre will provide more employment in the long term. We are concerned that the loss of employment land here will lead to its replacement on greenfield sites elsewhere. The car parking requirement for the proposed activity is far in excess of that required for the employees of an industrial unit and we deplore the loss of trees which would arise from its expansion. We would ask the Council to ensure that the proposals do meet the policies of the Local Plan before granting planning permission, if they do not, then planning permission should be refused.

Planning Application W2010/0102 Blackfriars House, 6 West Street, Warwick.

Dear Ms Butler

It is with some relief that we see that a use has been found for this handsome listed building and welcome the proposals. This is a historic building and we would ask that care be taken to preserve any period internal features during refurbishment. We would also ask that the proposed fence in the garden be reduced in height, the upper part of the hedge is very dense and impassable so a wire plastic coated mesh of half the height would be adequate and be more in keeping with the ambience of building.

Planning Application W2010/ 0104  13 The Butts, Warwick.

Dear Ms Butler

We wish to commend the sensitive refurbishment and enhancement of this listed build. We would nonetheless question whether the plate glass balcony guard is appropriate in this setting, we appreciate the wish to maintain the view of Priory Park but are concerned that reflected glare would be unwelcome in the park, in Chapel Street and Priory Road. We would suggest that a fence of tensioned stainless steel cables, which will be see through but not reflective, would be more suitable.

Planning Application W2010/0111  38 Chapel Street, Warwick

Dear Ms. Butler

We regret the demolition of the old wall, without planning permission, at the rear of this dwelling on Priory Road, which is in the Conservation Area. It is our view that the wall should have been retained and repaired and would suggest that it be replaced in  consultation with the District Environmental Architect.

Planning Application W2010/0118   22 Coten End, Warwick.

Dear Mr Wallsgrove

We wish to object to the proposal to release the flats at the development at 22 Coten End on to the private housing market. The flats were exempted from the housing moratorium because they were designated as Affordable Homes. There is a great demand for Affordable Housing in the area (though not necessarily by way of shared equity) and we are not convinced by the arguments that no one will take them on. Rather than providing money towards Affordable Housing elsewhere, the selling price of the flats should be adjusted to make them a more attractive proposition to the District Council and to Housing Associations. We would ask the Council to refuse planning permission for this application.

Planning Application W2010/0124   Premier Inn, Broxell Close, Warwick.

Dear Mr Haslett

We wish to object to the garish signage proposed for this public house which is set in a wooded area in view of the cemetery. Its signage should be toned down to be in keeping with its special setting. We would ask the Council to refuse planning permission for this application in its present form.

Planning Application W2010/0136   13 Market Place, Warwick.

Dear Mr Cooper

We wish to object to the vinyl signage fascia proposed for these premises, it is inappropriate on a Listed Building, especially in such close vicinity to the Market Hall Museum, and does not meet Conservation Area guidelines. The fascia should be hand painted. We do however welcome the colour scheme proposed, pale colours on a dark

background. We would ask the Council to refuse planning permission for this

application in its present form,
