Response to proposals for High St and Jury St

The Society’s Committee is delighted that so many members and others have responded to the County Council’s consultation and supported the proposals. We hope that this will lead to a decision of the Council’s Warwick Area Committee when it meets on 10 January 2012 to implement the scheme. If this decision is taken then, and nothing causes delay – winter weather will be a risk – work should mostly be complete by Easter 2012.

Response to the National Planning Policy Framework proposal

On the 17^th October, the Society responding to the government’s National Planning Policy Framework proposal. While the Society welcomes the stated overall objective of the NPPF, we strongly regret that the NPPF gives undue priority to economic growth over all the other objectives of the planning system. We believe that the NPPF would lead to too much development, of the wrong kind and in the wrong places. This would severely damage the historic town centre and the quality of life of its residents.

Photographing the general public of Warwick

Warwick Market Hall Museum, Market Place, Warwick

Saturday 29^th January 2010

10am – 4pm

Local photographer Liz Drake is asking for members of the public to come forward and have their photograph taken, for free, on Saturday 29^th January 2011

10am – 4pm, in the Market Hall Museum, Market Place, Warwick.

The photograph (accompanied by a very brief interview) will feature as part of Liz Drake’s ‘A Photographic Portrait of Warwick’ and will be passed to the Warwickshire Record Office to be held in perpetuity for future residents of Warwick. Having photographed the majority of the shops and businesses in Warwick and the people who work in the shops and businesses, Liz Drake is now to photograph members of the public to complete the study. Liz Drake hopes that the photographic study will be a unique photographic record of Warwick over a two year period and feels the study would be incomplete without featuring members of the public.

For any members of the public wishing to be photographed, please just turn up. A free copy of the photograph will be emailed to the participants.
