On the 17th October, the Society responding to the government’s National Planning Policy Framework proposal. While the Society welcomes the stated overall objective of the NPPF, we strongly regret that the NPPF gives undue priority to economic growth over all the other objectives of the planning system. We believe that the NPPF would lead to too much development, of the wrong kind and in the wrong places. This would severely damage the historic town centre and the quality of life of its residents.
